If you decide to buy a jet ski, here's what you need to know
Costs that every owner of a (new) jet ski can expect
If you are thinking about buying a jet ski, you must have wondered what the costs are that come with the PWC. Just as buying a car involves certain financial expenses, the same is for a jet ski. In this text, we will list the basic costs that usually come with a jet ski, but keep in mind that they also differ - depending on your needs and whether the jet ski is intended for private use or rent.
Jet Ski Insurance
Insurance is the first and most important thing! Since the jet ski is watercraft whose feature is high speed, insurance is imposed as the only logical move. You should be aware that jet ski insurance is not mandatory in all states, but it is recommended for your safety. Even if you only use the jet ski for private purposes, this act simply protects you from the later consequences (if any).
When it comes to renting a jet ski, insurance is the base. The fact is that PWCs are very often rented by young people who like to drive fast. That being said, there is always a chance of an accident.
First Service
If you are buying a new jet ski, know that the first service is mandatory, and do not skip it! Depending on the manufacturer, the first service sometimes has to be done already after about 10 hours. During this period, it is advisable to drive the jet ski more carefully and not to load it to the limit - since then the engine’s running-in process continues. On the other hand, some manufacturers recommend the first service on their jet ski models after about 50 hours of driving.
In order to be sure at what point you must do the first service on your jet ski model, be sure to consult with an authorized reseller. Of course, the service itself should always be done exclusively in authorized centers that guarantee quality care of the jet ski.
Jet Ski Transport
There are frequent situations in which new PWC owners simply do not remember that it is necessary to ensure the transport of the jet ski. The most practical solution is to buy a trailer that can take the jet ski to the desired location at any time. Likewise, during the winter months, the trailer can be used as a dry berth, for example, in your garage.
Jet Ski Accessories
When riding a jet ski, safety is an absolute priority. In addition to observing the legal regulations that apply at the water, it is also necessary to use safety equipment - this primarily refers to a helmet and a life jacket. In some countries, the use of a helmet and life jacket while riding a jet ski is also legally required. However, regardless of the law, use them for your own safety.
The next thing to consider is where your jet ski will be located during the summer months. Floating pontoons and docks are emerging as the best solution for all those who want to keep their PWCs safe at all times. Storing jet skis on these systems protects them even in the most difficult weather conditions, and allows owners quick and easy access to the PWC. This is especially useful when refueling jet skis or when minor repairs need to be done on the jet ski.
Of course, there is an endless list of accessories you can equip your PWC with. Please use the above information and advice as a guide, especially if you are in the process of purchasing your first jet ski.
